The National Conversation on Writing has chosen to use the Creative Commons system in order to provide our contributors with a choice of how their work is to be used. We have included brief descriptions of each license but if you are still unsure check out this website:

http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses or just ask us at NCoW@tamu-commerce.edu

Also, consider the Creative Commons License Generator.

You will be asked to choose one of these options:

  • Attribution: You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your work—and derivative works based upon it—but only if they give you credit the way you request. (Most common license because it is most similar to copyright projects in other academic spheres.)

  • Noncommercial: You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your work—and derivative works based upon it—but for noncommercial purposes only.

  • No Derivative Works: You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform ONLY verbatim copies of your work, not derivative works based upon it.

  • Share Alike: You allow others to distribute derivative works only under a license that governs your work. Share alike licenses only apply to derivative works.
